Welcome to Daystar Life Center. Help us help others.

Daystar Life Center of Citrus County is located at 6751 W. Gulf To Lake Highway in Crystal River, Florida (34429).

We are a federally recognized charitable organization, consisting of a Food Pantry, a Thrift Store and a Social Services Office.

We are open from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, except federal holidays, Good Friday, the week of July 4th, and the week before Christmas through New Year’s Day.

Clients (those who seek help) must arrive at our Social Services Office with required documentation before 11 a.m. for clothing or financial assistance and before 1:30 p.m. for food.

We are an ecumenical ministry of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Crystal River, Florida, under the auspices of the St. Petersburg Diocese. We are ecumenical because we welcome the involvement of all other Christian churches. We are a ministry because we bring people together to serve others in fulfillment of our mission.

Our mission is our response to God’s call expressed in the Holy Bible (Deuteronomy 15:7-8, NRSV):

“If there is among you anyone in need, a member of your community in any of your towns within the land that the Lord your God is giving you, do not be hard-hearted or tight-fisted toward your needy neighbor. You should rather open your hand, willingly lending enough to meet the need, whatever it may be.”

The mission of Daystar Life Center is to provide immediate assistance for the basic needs of the poor, the homeless and the struggling families with children in Citrus County, Florida. We welcome people of all faith traditions, ethnic heritages and socio-economic backgrounds to support and to help carry out that mission.

The primary forms of assistance we offer to those who meet our eligibility criteria include food, clothing and financial help—mostly for rent or utilities. Those who are seeking clothing or financial help must arrive at our Social Services Office before 11 a.m. and before 1:30 p.m. for food.  In order to save time and travel, please bring the required documentation.
